London Fashion Week: Behind The Scenes
I was commissioned by Chinese High Fashion brand X-Lando to document and capture a series of behind the scenes images at their show for London Fashion Week.
The experience reinforced several themes that I have noticed in the world. Confidence vs Vulnerability and the idea of perfection; you only see what people, companies etc want you to see. I decided to edit the series in black and white so as to focus on the subjects and have no distraction of colour which fashion and shows use to their advantage.
I wanted to capture the moments that weren’t perfect, the voyeuristic clamours of the other photographers, the human zoo. Fashion imagery is focussed on perfection, capturing the split-second gait of the runway models, or the perfect pose. I wanted to capture moments of vulnerability, the human moments where the models don’t believe anyone is watching and are themselves.
